Have you considered a rewarding career helping dogs and owners live in harmony?
Begin your education at DogGone Solutions! Our Trainer Education Program is a comprehensive canine behavior and training curriculum designed to make you a quality dog trainer. The program is broken out into 3 phases. Each phase is priced separately and all phases involve homework, a reading manual, projects, and examinations.
THE BEHAVIOR PHASE
The Behavior Phase covers necessary information needed prior to physically training. This phase educates you on canine behavior, body language, communication, pack order, leadership, and training techniques and aids. One of the unique and most valuable parts of this phase and program is we teach you MULTIPLE training techniques. Learn about different training styles and methods and why all of them are important and when they should be used! Learn why certain collars were designed the way they were, how to properly use and fit them, and when you should use them. This phase lasts approximately 4 weeks and the cost is $200.00.
THE TRAINING PHASE
The Training Phase is where we take your behavior knowledge and put it in to action. You’ll begin hands on training in the various techniques and you’ll train dogs you have no familiarity with. You'll get used to dealing with unfamiliar dogs and 'unexpected' behavior quirks... gaining practice, confidence, problem solving and most importantly experience! You’ll learn all the basic obedience commands, problem solving, and before you know it… you’ll have the know-how to train a dog to fetch a soda from the fridge. This phase lasts approximately 4 weeks and the cost is $300.00.
THE INSTRUCTING PHASE
Finally, the Instructing Phase is where you take all of that knowledge you gained in the last two months, and explain it to others. You’ll be front and center of one of our classes and you will teach the class for the entire course. You’ll be supervised but you'll be prepared as we discuss each class prior. This phase prepares you for that final leap... being on your own and training on your own. This phase lasts 6 weeks and the cost for this final phase is $400.00.
WHAT THE PROGRAM INCLUDES
Unlike other programs, we include everything you need to start; leashes, collars, clicker, treats, bait bag, first aid kit, toys, the list goes on. It's a complete starter kit so you can start training immediately. You will not need to purchase any of the basics in addition to your tuition!
We also include a one year membership to the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) so you have another resource available to you at all times. If you join the DogGone Solutions team, we will provide company business cards and shirts and you will also be covered under our insurance policy!
If you decide not to be a part of our team, we will provide 1 year of support. During that year you may call, email, or visit to discuss any problems you may be having pertaining to dog training.
Compare that to our competitors!
PAYMENT OPTIONS
Tuition is due on or before the first day of each phase. Payments can be made by cash, check, or by credit/debit card through PayPal (additional fee). Payment arrangements are also available.
THE FINE PRINT
All students are required to sign a non-compete agreement and a confidentiality agreement!
THE 'CONS' OF DOG TRAINING AS A CAREER
YOU WILL GET BIT! We're rarely called to train good dogs so ALWAYS be prepared to get bit! In most cases, the smaller the dog... the harder they bite! This is why a first aid kit is included with your supplies!
SOME DOGS ARE BIG! If you can not handle a large Rottweiler of 160 pounds, you may want to consider a different career. By 'handle', we mean hold your ground. We REGULARLY come across large dogs that do not walk well on the leash. It's a given. As a trainer, you can not become victim of a dog that can pull you down the street!
HOW TO APPLY
The ideal applicant would have dependable transportation, be personable, and have an extremely professional work ethic and presence. All applicants will be interviewed prior to accepting.
If you're ready for a new career in dog training, download and complete our application! Email your completed application to us along with your resume, a cover letter stating why you want to be and would make a good trainer, and any additional complimentary information and we'll get you trained!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAM TAKE?
On average, about 3-4 months. But if you happen to be a fast learner and don't need as long... then less!
HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY?
If you are hired, you will be contracted and paid a percentage of net income you generate. Similar to commission.
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
Lessons take place in New Port Richey on the weekends. Location varies.
There is an examination at the end of EACH phase. As you pass each phase, you will be given Certificates of Completion. When you complete the entire program, we will issue you a Diploma to mark your achievement.
WHY DO I PAY FOR THE EDUCATION TO WORK FOR YOU?
This is an apprenticeship program. Like any other form of extended schooling beyond high school, it's an investment. Every career field requires an education whether it is a 2 year school or more. In addition, MOST of your tuition goes toward your supplies, your membership to the APDT, and your promotion. You are investing in your education, your career and your future.
WHY DO I HAVE TO SIGN A NON-COMPETE AGREEMENT?
Almost all dog training companies require a non-compete. Why? It's such a niche career that most trainers are self taught, apprenticed taught, or have traveled the hundreds of miles to go to a school specifically designed to educated canine trainers. So when those of us are in a position to take a student under our wing and teach them everything we know, well... we don't want them to be the next competitor down the street. We need to protect that which we've invested our time and energy into.
